Christian Tradition course exposed me to the Christian Tradition based on Biblical and church history. The course taught me the differences and similarities of Christian Tradition from other major world religions. I learned about the significance of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Trinity based on the teachings of the Bible. The course also briefly covered 2,000 years of church history but with emphasis on the impact of the Council of Nicea, Council of Chalcedon, and John and Charles Wesley on Christianity. The professor emphasized the importance of the reformation that sparked a revolution in the church. The course began by distinguishing Christianity from other major world religions both in similarities and differences. All these roles combined equal a mystical element that describes the Trinity or another name is Godhead. To understand the Trinity, God is the sun that shines while Jesus is the rays of the sun and the Holy Spirit is the warmth that is felt from the sun. All personalities are equal and combined together called the Trinity. The role and purpose of the Church is to create a community of people who believe in the same faith of God. The Church is a foundation of the faith in God. The Church allowed people to unite on common grounds and follow the words of God. The place of worship made people feel accountable because they were in it together. The Church raised the importance of prayer and spirituality because that is how one communicates to God. The Church emphasizes fellowship, dedication to the faith, selflessness. The Church gives power to the Christian people because they are a group and not individuals anymore. One of the most important events in church history includes the Council of Nicea. The First Council of Nicea happened in 325 and involved the first gathering of Christian bishops and the Roman Empire not as enemies but as allies. The bishops wanted to solve the dispute over Arianism. Arianism is the belief that Christ was more than human but something less than God. The word abortion by definition means the induced removal of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is an immensely controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, other people believe that a woman should have the right to choose. How would other people feel if somebody took away their freedom? So imagine not having any say in whether or not you can live. Babies don t have an option in their mother’s womb to choose if they live or not. If a woman decides to abort her baby, the baby can t do anything about their life being taken away from them. Abortion is wrong when it is committed for egotistical reasons. In America we have many choices and abortion is not the only†¦show more content†¦When people perform abortions, they take the life of an innocent child. They deny the unborn child its right to live and experience the world. I feel that no one has the right to take the life of another person, even an unbo rn child. Furthermore, abortion denies the mother the joy and opportunity to raise the baby. If the mother doesn’t want the child there are other options like adoptions, which gives women who are unable to having children the chance to raise a baby. In the long run, abortion usually ends up hurting the mother as the emotional effects become worse and worse. This problem is even more common when there is pressure by other people on the woman to have the abortion, and she does so reluctantly. Another reason why I do not believe abortions should be done is because of the many risks involved for the woman undergoing the abortion. The risks involved are both medical and emotional. In an article a psychiatrist and member of the Right to Life Committee, Carmen Gà ³mez-Lavà ­n states that: Sixty five percent of women who abort suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome after undergoing the procedure. Emphasis on personnel motives and values. Criminal workers have motives and values that stress public service as well as personal interests; they want to ne in profession that is both appreciated and remunerated fairly and appropriately. Often criminal justice administrators are indifferent to or unaware of just how important the motives and values of employees are. Those in leadership positions must offer a set of motives and values as guidance for subordinates. By having an articulated mission statement, for example the important motives and values of the organization become known, and employees are able to see how they fit into larger picture of the organization. 2. Use of incentitives and rewards. Employees need incentitives to meet expectations and appropriate rewards for jobs well done. A major challenge for criminal justice administrators is the creation of formal and informal approaches to recognize and reward employees. The types of rewards can be varied. Monetary rewards are often difficult to provide, but other types of rewards, such as informal praise when a job is handled well and employee recognition programs can be given. 3. Reinforcement. Administrators must develop feedback mechanism so that workers understand that their performance is appropriate on assigned tasks. More often than not, the immediate supervisor provides little or no feedback to subordinates. This creates much anxiety and uncertainty among employees, causing their motivation to wane. 4. Specific and clear goals. All theories of motivation highlight the importance of goals or expected outcomes to the motivation process. This is probably the most difficult and problematical area in motivating criminal justice employees. As public agencies, criminal justice organizations are expected to address multiple, and sometimes conflicting, goals; consequently, specifying goals and prioritizing them can be very difficult. This difficulty, more than any other, poses problems for administrators. Goal clarity and goal consensus may not be possible in criminal justice organizations and, as a consequence, developing effective motivation plans will be difficult. 5. Sufficient personal and material resources. The organization must have a sufficient number of resources, both human and financial, to create a proper motivating environment for employees. Examples of such resources include support and training programs for employees, outlets for employees that allow socialization and the development of informal groups, and material support, such as adequate supplies and equipment, for tasks to be accomplished and goal attained. Managers that take these ideas can make criminal justice organizations more aware of the motivation needs of employees. Positive motivation is the single most important element for job satisfaction and department success which then equates into community approval and support. By establishing and implementing changes to import motivation then attitudes will shift and the productive transformation will be apparent. The answer is yes, conveying this teaching is possible. There are still some people who do live in this way. One person who lived this way was Mohandas Gandhi. Gandhi was a man of peace from India. By no means did Gandhi resort to violence. Gandhi showed that the powerless had power. He never fought back instead he would sit and pray. Gandhi always wanted equality and peace among everyone. If someone were harm in any way, he would have never turned and hurt them. Instead he would have prayed or just ambled away. Although with his courageous words and actions he was a very powerful person he still could not control the decisions and actions of others. Gandhi once said,I have no strength, save what God gives me. I have no authority over my country men, save the purely moral. Like many of our brave and peaceful leaders Gandhi was also assassinated. He died on January 30, 1948. Everyone should be more like Gandhi. Everyone should be kind and peaceful and then the world may be an easier place to live in. Its not an easy way to live because you often act or even speak before you act. Several people often do things without thinking. Its human nature. For example if person A were to clout person B, person B would automatically strike back. This is unquestionably not what Jesus would do. There is only very few people who would actually just turn the other cheek or walk away. Instead everyone else would probably do the same or even worse than what the other person did. Another way we can follow this philosophy is by, as Jesus said, Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Think about this, no one would want someone to harm them, emotionally or physically, and the other person probably feels the same way. Verbal abuse, talking about others, judging others also part of this. This damages others, and its hard not to do this because everybody does it but just because everybody does doesnt make it right. Most people follow what the populace is doing because usually if they dont they are part of ridicule. It is easier to follow the things that others do than to go in your own path and many people will treat others badly and the ones being treated badly will usually fight back by doing the same way or by even just making the person the object of mockery. Some people just let their anger and fury get to them and then they end up doing something that they may end up regretting in the end. They try to get revenge and sometimes look at things from a different point-of-view. They see how it would be like if they were the ones being laughed at and being hurt. They end up feeling horrible about what they did in the end.
